TOTAL COMMUNITY ACTION, INC (TCA) HEAD START PROGRAM CENTER OPENINGS & PARENT CONVOCATIONS

Total Community Action, Incorporated Head Start Programs Centers will open Monday, August 12, 2019. The program will host a series of Parent Convocation & Orientation sessions for its 2019-2020 program year.  Attendance at one of the sessions is MANDATORY for all parents of TCA Head Start Center programs. Parents are given the option to attend the session that best meets their schedule.

2019 marks the 55th year since the Community Action Network was established to help American families and communities overcome obstacles to poverty. Over 1000 agencies across the country are working every day to create opportunities and transform the lives of their neighbors making communities stronger and helping families across the US thrive. This year, Total Community Action, Inc., a proud member of the Community Action Network, will also commemorate 55  helping families throughout New Orleans.

Dear Friend of TCA,

It is with great excitement that we write to you and share news about Total Community Action’s Community Involvement Activity in which you may participate.  During the entire month of May, the Office of Children, Youth and Families is promoting a community reading activity “Reading Across the Community”and your participation as a reader to one of our Head Start Classes is being solicited.

Join us as we share in the literacy experience with the children across our community by devoting one or more hours of your time on a Monday, Tuesday or Thursday during the Month of May.  The reading block will be from 9:30 a.m.- 10:30a.m.   You will be guided through the proper protocol for your rendered service once you have signed up as a participant and received your assigned site.   We sincerely hope that we can count on you to make this event a huge success you are part of our village.

As we are planning for this exciting event, we are requesting that you contact the Office of Children Youth and Families at (504)309-3503 in order to sign up as a Reader Volunteer at one of our Head Start Child Care Centers. We will be eager to hear from you and we thank you in advance for your support as you commit to making a difference in the lives of the youth in our community.

TCA LIHEAP SERVICES ARE NOW OPEN

  • TCA is now accepting eligible clients on a walk-in basis, for the month of February through March 8, 2019; Walk-in customers will be serviced at 8:00 am until all available slots are filled.
  • All appointments for both CRISIS AND NON-CRISIS will be scheduled by using TCA’s new automated appointment system. (effective March 8)
  • Beginning March 8, 2019 the TCA LIHEAP appointment line will be available and open for customers to call in and schedule an appointment on 504-324-8609.
  • Tuesday March 5, 2019 is an agency approved Mardi Gras holiday.
  • In addition, appointments can also be scheduled on the TCA website by clicking on the tca-nola.organd clicking on the LIHEAP appointment section.

Freeze Plan

Total Community Action, Inc. Community and Energy
Service Department Crisis / Disconnect Notices Walk-in’s
services will be closed on Thursday, November 15, 2018
due to the City of New Orleans has activated its freeze
plan in anticipation of cold weather. The plan is activated
when temperatures are expected to drop below 35
degrees for more than four hours. Residents and visitors
are advised to take precautions during cold weather.

Also, CRISIS funds have been exhausted. TCA will
resume Crisis / Disconnect Notices Walk-in’s services
soon as funding becomes available.
