COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE OVERVIEW
SEPTEMBER 11- OCTOBER 4, 2012
OVERVIEW: TCA, with the support of the Louisianan Workforce Commission, Office of Workforce Development will be sponsoring Community Leadership Institute (CLI), designed to expand and strengthen the capacity of residents, stakeholders, and partners of the TCA’s target and gateway communities, to actively contribute to the life and economic growth of their communities.
CLI METHODOLOGY: The community Leadership Institute will utilize workshop based instructional opportunities, community resource retreat, and applied learning activities. CLI offers a customized curriculum, which integrates Missouri Step UP to Leadership, and the Neighborhood Centers of America’s Appreciative Inquiry frameworks.
LOGISTICS: Workshop classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, beginning September 11 from 5:30-8:00 p.m., and ending October 4, 2012. Light heart healthy meals will be provided; childcare and transportation assistance available based on eligibility. The Community Resource Empowerment Retreat will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2012. Workshops will be held at TCA, 1420 South Jefferson Davis Parkway, however, the all day Resource Retreat will be held offsite, with transportation provided.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE: Orleans parish residents, stakeholders and community partners; Priority enrollment is reserved for resident’s, stakeholders and partners of TCA Target Communities (Central City, Algiers, Upper and Lower Ninth Ward, St. Bernard, Gert-Town/Hollygrove/Zion City, Village de ‘lest) and Gateway Communities (Lower Coast Algiers, Leonidas, Upper St. Claude, Treme/Sixth Ward/Lafitte, Little Woods ad Plum Orchard).
REGISTRATION PROCESS Registration Process begins August 23 and ends at 4:00 pm September 7, 2012. Registrants would need childcare and transportation assistance will need to be certified CSBG eligible, therefore we encourage those applicants to submit their registration form as soon as possible.
