Youth Work Experience
There is timeless debate as to whether education or experience is more important in accomplishing one's goals in life. The answer is most likely to be found in a thoughtful combination of education and experience.
However, the first time job-seeker's dilemma is how to acquire the "experience" so often required by employers when
no one will hire you without having previous work experience!
The TCA Youth Work Experience Program provides job placement services to low-income and disadvantaged full-time students between the ages of 16 and 21. The program operates in two cycles. The fall program serves eligible students, providing each participant a maximum of 20 hours of work per week for 20 to 26 weeks. The Summer program offers 20 hours of work, for 7 to 8 weeks, for eligible students. All participants are paid the Federal minimum hourly wage.
The Youth Work Experience Program helps young people to better help themselves by gaining realistic work experience and job skills, along with an enhanced sense of responsibility.
