Tax Assistance FlyerTotal Community Action, Inc., is pleased to offer a free tax preparation and filing service. During tax filing season, January - May, TCA will be processing basic returns (1040A, 1040EZ and state returns) for low-income individuals and families at nine (9) sites in New Orleans. After May, 15th, tax filing assistance is available only at the Total Family Center, located at 1424 S. Jefferson Davis Pkwy, New Orleans.

For nearly 20 years, Total Community Action., Inc, which includes community organizations, employers, social service programs and government agencies, has promoted the Earned Income Credit (EIC), the Child Tax Credit (CTC) and free tax filing assistance for low- and moderate-income workers. Each year millions of eligible workers risk missing out on these important federal tax benefits because they do not know they qualify, do not know how to claim the credits or do not know where to find free tax filing assistance.

TCA Tax Assistance Center/VITA is prepared to serve twice as many filers at its nine citywide locations than it did in previous years. This free tax service is available to any Louisiana resident earning $38,000 or less. TCA Tax Assistance Center provides tax services in partnership with the City of New Orleans-Office of Economic Development, Louisiana Department of Social Services, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, TCA Federal Credit Union and the Internal Revenue Service

EITC benefits are now available to families without children. TCA Tax Assistance and Asset Development programs exists to encourage people to take advantage of the earned income-tax credit and offers free tax service to Louisiana resident earning less than $38,000.

Families are also offered the opportunity for financial literacy, a savings opportunity through the TCA Credit Union if needed, and Individual Development Accounts through one of the Asset Building Programs in the city.
