New Orleans, La- Total Community Action, Inc. is a non-profit community based agency, dedicated to serving the needs of the disadvantage. TCA will implement a new service schedule for all services beginning January 30, 2012 that will provide residents with access to TCA Services Monday through Thursday 8:00 am-6:30 pm and on Fridays from 8:00 am-4:30 pm. Services that will be available include:

  • Utilities Assistance (LIHEAP, Water, and Sewer Fee Assistance)
  • VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance- available Mondays-Thursday and Saturdays)
  •  Empowerment and Intervention Assistance and Services (Employment, Emergency Assistance, Income Management, Family Empowerment and Energy Conservation)

Since the early 1970’s TCA has provided resources and services to low-income individuals and neighborhoods through community based centers located in the poorest areas of the city. As a result of recent budgets cuts TCA was forced to shut down their neighborhood centers.  However, TCA is committed to serving this community by providing human services, experiences and opportunities that move persons from poverty to self-sufficiency.

Although TCA is unable to sustain its community/neighborhood centers, we will continue to bring services to the community through bimonthly service on Fridays, utilizing partner host facilities and a mobile service unit.

  • Wage and earning statement(s) Form W-2, W-2G, 1099-R, from all employers
  • Interest and dividend statements from banks (Forms 1099)
  • A copy of last year’s federal and state returns if available
  • Bank routing numbers and account numbers for DirectDeposit
  • Total paid for daycare provider and the daycare provider’s tax identifying number (the provider’s Social

Hundreds of ARAMARK employees will volunteer to help make physical improvements to community centers to enrich the lives of families and children. Aramark’s Building Community Enhancement days will enhance TCA’s James M. Singleton Head Start Center and Eastshore park. Projects include landscaping,  a community garden, painting the park’s basketball court and play area, and building mural backed benches.

Participation in the Institute is open to all TCA employees, but several classes/workshops will be mandatory components of the professional development plans of Community Service staff.
